Positive Affirmations
Studies have shown that teaching your kids positive affirmations as early as 3 years old can help them as they grow into young individuals. It helps to activate a growth mindset early on and boosts confidence.
If you are one to have practiced positive affirmations before, you know the benefits that it has had on how you view yourself, and how you navigate certain life situations. Teaching children how to redirect negative thought patterns early on will impact them in ways that will equip them whenever they are faced with difficulty.
What once seemed impossible to them will seem very possible as they grow up having a growth mindset that promotes faith and positivity. They’ll be prone to becoming quick problem-solvers, whose positivity will eventually rub off on others as well.
Examples of this can be seen when your child is working on a new activity or craft. If they aren’t introduced to positive patterns of thinking, a response you may hear from them often is “I can’t do this,” as they push their task away from them in frustration. As a parent, a natural response is to intervene and defeat their thinking with a positive one such as “You can do anything you set your mind to.” Seeing someone they love encourage and believe in them plants a seed where now their mindset has shifted to a place where tackling this task may be possible.
Practice saying positive affirmations for just a few minutes a day with your child, and watch how their confidence grows!
